Volunteering within ASK-Solutions can take many different forms. The foundation works towards public-benefit objectives involving knowledge sharing, collaboration, social connection, practical development, and free software and hardware. Volunteers can contribute directly to this work through their time, knowledge, experience and practical effort.
This does not always have to be a fixed role or a task that recurs every week. Some people contribute on an ongoing basis within a project or part of the organisation, while others occasionally help with an activity, solve a technical or organisational problem, or contribute knowledge that is needed at that particular time.
Voluntary contributions can be technical, practical, social, organisational or content-related. Someone might, for example, write articles or check information, contribute to software development, carry out administrative work, help prepare an application, or support communication with municipalities, government bodies and other organisations.
Presentation and communication are also part of this. This can include creating or distributing flyers, improving information on a website, documenting a project, helping with photography or video, or making sure that information for visitors and collaborating partners remains understandable and up to date.
Contribute to code, documentation, repairs, maintenance, design, research or practical technical work. Specialist knowledge that is only needed occasionally can also be valuable.
Help with administration, applications, planning, presentation, websites, flyers, documentation or communication with residents, organisations, municipalities and other parties involved.
Welcome people, provide information, help run a coffee corner, assist with workshops, organise activities or contribute in another way to an accessible and active environment.
Some volunteering takes place within ASK-Solutions projects. These projects have their own ways of working and may need different kinds of contributions. Concrete information is therefore kept on the website of the relevant project wherever possible.
What is needed at a particular time can change. A practical project may, for example, need someone to maintain machines or welcome visitors, while a software project may instead need help with code, testing or documentation. A project can also use posts or requests to indicate which contributions, knowledge or support are currently needed.
The Owl’s Nest is a project built around a shareable work model. Depending on the operator and location, volunteers can contribute to workshops, technical work, maintenance, welcoming visitors, a coffee corner, activities, knowledge sharing and organisational work.
Because locations have different possibilities, equipment and needs, the concrete opportunities are maintained within The Owl’s Nest itself.
Within Nocterra, voluntary contributions can include development, testing, documentation, writing or improving explanations, investigating problems and sharing technical knowledge.
Contributions that solve only a small part of a problem can also be useful when they fit within the development and documentation of the project.
Bōzuki combines technology, design, fabrication, electronics, documentation and media. Volunteers can, for example, work practically on the car or its parts, contribute technical knowledge, help with documentation, photography or video, or assist with organisation and preparation.
Which kind of help is useful at a particular time depends strongly on the phase of the project.
Not all work carried out by ASK-Solutions belongs to a separate project. There are also tasks within the foundation as a whole where voluntary contributions can be welcome. These may include administration, organisation, communication, presentation, documentation, websites, applications, contact with municipalities or government bodies, and preparing or developing new plans.
Some activities are ongoing, while others arise from a specific need. Your knowledge or experience therefore does not have to match a predefined volunteer role exactly. If you can or would like to contribute something that you think fits the objectives of ASK-Solutions, we can look together at where it can be most useful.
Which activities someone can carry out independently depends on the activity, their experience and the responsibility involved. Work involving technical equipment, guidance of people, access to data or activities carried out on behalf of the organisation may require coordination or supervision.
Volunteers also do not need to be able to do everything. It is precisely the combination of different people and skills that makes it possible to connect practical, technical, social and organisational work.

In addition to time and knowledge, you can contribute materials, equipment, financial support, sponsorship or other resources that can be useful within a project or activity.
