CollaborateASK-Solutions works towards public-benefit objectives involving knowledge sharing, collaboration, social connection, practical development, and free software and hardware. This work takes different forms, including projects, activities, documentation and other ways in which people and organisations can develop and use knowledge and opportunities together.
Collaboration therefore does not mean that there is one fixed offer or one type of relationship. One person may contribute time and practical knowledge, a company may provide materials or expertise, a professional may help with guidance or coordination, and another organisation may make development or implementation financially possible. Which form fits depends on the work, the project and the people and organisations involved.
Volunteers can contribute in practical, technical, organisational or social ways. This can be on a regular basis, around a specific activity or from their own field of expertise. Concrete roles are described as much as possible within the project or other context where the contribution is actually needed.
Professional knowledge can also be contributed voluntarily or as part of joint work. This may include guest teaching, technical maintenance, repair, guidance, administration, communication, advice or helping to develop plans and applications.
Some contributions are highly visible, such as someone helping with a workshop or carrying out maintenance. Others take place more in the background: keeping administration in order, thinking along with a project, writing documentation, guiding someone or making technical knowledge available. Both can be needed to carry out public-benefit work sustainably.
Machines, tools, wood, metal, filament, parts and other materials can be directly useful within the work of ASK-Solutions or a project. Where something can actually be used depends on the concrete implementation and the people responsible for it.
A financial contribution can be made generally or, where administratively and practically possible, be designated for a particular project or concrete implementation. With sponsorship, appropriate visibility is additionally agreed within the context to which the contribution relates.
Collaboration can also mean that several parties contribute directly to the same objective or project. An organisation may, for example, financially enable development within a free-software project and contribute ideas, while a professional makes knowledge or time available for guidance, organisation or implementation.
Different roles can also come together within a single collaboration. A care practice may, for example, be involved in supporting someone who participates in public-benefit work, while people from that same organisation also contribute knowledge, time or financial support.
The contribution of each party therefore does not have to be the same. Time, expertise, materials, funding and practical effort can complement one another within a collaboration. The starting point remains the work that is made possible together and the public-benefit objective to which that work contributes.
This website describes in general terms how collaboration with ASK-Solutions is possible. Concrete roles, current requests and practical opportunities are maintained as much as possible within the relevant project or by the people responsible for a concrete implementation.
This distinction is particularly important for the project The Owl’s Nest. The project is built around a shareable work model that can be implemented by different operators at different locations. Needs can therefore differ between implementations. At one location, for example, help with a coffee corner may be useful, while an operator at another location may instead need tools, electronic parts or technical support.
Projects can publish current requests when particular knowledge, materials, people or funding are needed. Where a project has different concrete implementations, this information can additionally be specified by the relevant operator or for the relevant location. Updates and examples can then show what has been done with contributions and collaborations.
The project The Owl’s Nest is built around a shareable work model for practical work, learning, making, repairing and working together. Operators can implement that model at different locations, with activities, available possibilities and the need for voluntary or material contributions differing between implementations.
Nocterra offers different ways to contribute to the project, for example through development, testing, documentation, knowledge or funding. Concrete and current information about this is maintained on the project website.
The project Bōzuki can be supported with technical knowledge, practical work, parts, materials, documentation, media work, sponsorship and other contributions that fit the phase the project is currently in.
People and organisations come into contact with ASK-Solutions from different backgrounds. That background does not automatically determine the form of collaboration. A company may contribute technical knowledge, financial support and voluntary effort at the same time; a care organisation may be involved in supporting people while also making professionals, knowledge or other resources available.

Not every possible collaboration is described in advance. Someone may have expertise, materials, space or an idea for which it is not yet clear which work or project it would fit best. An organisation can also be involved from several roles at the same time.
In that case, we look together at the objective, the possible contribution and the context in which it can be used most meaningfully. If it concerns a specific project, further coordination takes place as much as possible with the people responsible for that project. Where such a project has different operators or concrete implementations, it can then be determined where the contribution fits best in practice.
