Tonight at half past eleven, a large part of Haarlem and several surrounding villages were affected by a disruption in the power grid. The ASK-Solutions data center is also located in the affected area. Despite the fact that our servers continue to work on the emergency power supply, some of our services and various websites and e-mail are not or only partly available. Two of our internet connections are interrupted and can no longer connect. We also notice disruptions in the 4G and 5G network.
We are keeping an eye on the situation. At this time Liander, the manager of the power grid, says the malfunction will be solved around 02:30.
The supply of electricity in the region seems to have been restored. However, two of our internet connections, a VDSL2 line and a fiber optic connection are not yet online. The physical connection seems to be restored, but data transport is not yet possible. In the logs we see that the PPPOE authentication on the VDSL line fails. We are not assigned IPv4 or IPv6 addresses on the fiber optic line.
The fiber optic internet connection has just come online. We are busy testing all our systems and services.
The VDSL internet connection can set up the PPPOE connection again; authentication succeeds again. We would like to thank the Liander technicians, XS4ALL and Freedom internet for their efforts in restoring the supply of electricity and internet.
